Fingerprinting in India is no longer something that only happens for visa applicants. It touches nearly every major life event. Your fingerprints are being registered in many databases now. If you have Aadhaar, they're in UIDAI's Central Identities Data Repository. If you've registered a property recently, they're part of the Sub-Registrar's digital record. If you've applied for a passport, they're on an embedded chip. And yet most people have almost no idea how the process or system works, who can access their data, and what rights they actually have. In a country where biometric identity is becoming the backbone of public services, it's something every resident should know.
